What is a Departmental Cut Off Mark?

JAMB off the mark and departmental issues Most students, “especially students sitting for JAMB for the first time,” don’t know the difference between these two, but as always, I’ve got your back. “Cut off mark” is one of the most puzzling concepts among JAMBites.

First off, the term “off mark” refers to “the lowest score (Mark) one is allowed to achieve in order to be eligible to participate in a specific program.”

Now that we’ve connected this to JAMB, we can state that the JAMB Cut off mark is the lowest score that JAMBites are permitted to get in JAMB before being permitted to take part in the Post UTME of their preferred school.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board convenes for what is known as the “JAMB POLICY MEETING” after JAMB is finished and student results are released.

The general minimum JAMB Cut-off mark for that particular year is decided during this conference.

The School departmental Cut off score is based on your JAMB Score as well as your Post UTME Score or O’level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) results, however, the JAMB Cut-off mark is based on the JAMB Exam you took.

Additionally, failing to achieve the JAMB cut-off mark disqualifies you from participating in your school of choice’s post-UTME, but failing to achieve the school’s required aggregate score disqualifies you from receiving admission there.

JAMB and School Cut off marks are not the same thing, While the former is determined by JAMB, the latter is by your school of choice. Whilst the JAMB cut off mark is one, there would be different university cut-off marks for 2022 based on your school of choice.
