History of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic
In 1979, the town of Ijebu-Igbo saw the birth of a new tertiary institution, thanks to the government led by the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo. The leaders of Ijebu-Igbo had been keen on having their own institution of higher learning, and their dreams were realized with the establishment of the Polytechnic. Unfortunately, this initial venture was short-lived, barely making it past a year and a half before being shut down by the military regime of Colonel Oladipo Diya in 1983, who was then the Military Governor of Ogun State.
The turn of fortune came in 2005 when the Ogun State House of Assembly breathed new life into the Polytechnic through Edict 31. It was re-established and named “THE POLYTECHNIC, IJEBU-IGBO”. Four years later, in 2009, its name was changed to “ABRAHAM ADESANYA POLYTECHNIC” to honor the late Senator Abraham Adesanya, a revered figure from the town.
Situated in Ijebu-Igbo, known for its rich history dating back to 1430, the Polytechnic boasts the largest campus in Ogun State, covering 300 hectares. For National Diploma (ND) Full-Time Programmes:

They must have achieved at least five (5) O’Level credits in one sitting or six (6) O’Level credits in no more than two sittings. These credits must include English and Mathematics, along with three other relevant subjects.
It is compulsory for all applicants to have credit passes in Mathematics and English Language, as these are essential for any program within the Polytechnic.
For Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes:
Applicants aiming for admission into HND programs are required to fulfill these qualifications:
Possession of a National Diploma (ND) with at least a Lower Credit in the relevant field of study, alongside five (5) relevant O’Level credit passes. These O’Level credits, obtained through WASC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB, must not exceed two sittings and must include English Language and Mathematics.
Applicants must present evidence of one year of post-ND cognate experience, also known as Industrial Training.
Those with a Pass Grade in their ND must have at least two (2) years of Post National Diploma Industrial Experience to be considered for admission.
Additional professional qualifications, such as those from ICAN (e.g., ACA, ANAN), provide an added advantage to applicants.
A crucial requirement for HND applicants is the submission of the JAMB Registration Numbers used for their ND Programs.
