Available Programes / Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • All applicants must have their 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
  • A minimum of five (5) credits at SSCE, GCE, NECO, or equivalent, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects relevant to the chosen program. These credits should be achieved in no more than two sittings.
  • Candidates awaiting results can also apply.
  • Application must be done in person at the University.

Changing First Choice to Arthur Jarvis University:

Candidates wishing to change their first choice institution to Arthur Jarvis University should:

  • Apply for a change of institution through the JAMB Portal.
  • Print out a new Admission Letter from the JAMB Portal and present it to the University’s 

Admissions Unit.

Direct Entry Requirements:

Candidates seeking direct entry admission should have one of the following qualifications:

  • NCE at credit level, ND, or approved equivalents with at least Lower Credit in relevant fields.
  • At least two Advanced Level passes at an acceptable grade level.
  • The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB).

In addition to NCE/ND/IJMB/JUPEB, candidates must also satisfy the Ordinary Level requirements.

HND holders may be admitted to either 200 Level or 300 Level, depending on department/program regulations.

Pre-Degree Programs:

Candidates aiming for Pre-Degree programs should have:

  • A minimum credit pass in at least five subjects at ‘O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, in exams like GCE, WASCE, NECO, or NABTEB.
  • Registration and participation in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination with a score above the National average.

Degree, Diploma & Professional Certificate Programs:

Degree Programs: Available for candidates with OND, HND, or B.Sc. in any academic discipline.

Diploma Programs: Designed for members of the Armed Forces, Paramilitary, Safety Operatives, security agencies, and Civil Society who want to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Certificate Programs: Available in various fields like Information Technology, Web Design/Programming, Database Administration, Customer Relationship Management, Human Resources Management, and Hospitality & Tourism Management, with specific O’level credit requirements.

Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences – 100 Level/UTME Programs:

B.Sc. Physics:

  • Applicants must attain an acceptable score in UTME, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and another science subject.

Earth Sciences (B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Applied Geophysics):

  • Applicants must attain an acceptable score in UTME, including English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology or any relevant science subject.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Biological Sciences (B.Sc. Biology, B.Sc. Microbiology, and B.Sc. Biotechnology):

  • Applicants must attain an acceptable score in UTME, including English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and another science subject.

Chemical Sciences (B.Sc. Chemistry and B.Sc. Biochemistry):

  • Applicants must attain an acceptable score in UTME, including English, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or Biology.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Mathematics and Computer Sciences (B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Computer Science):

  • Applicants must attain an acceptable score in UTME, including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or Biology.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Additional/Further Mathematics or Biology for B.Sc. Mathematics.
  • A minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two acceptable science subjects for B.Sc. Computer Science.

Faculty of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences

Here are the admission requirements for the programs in the Faculty of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences:

B.A. English (Languages and Linguistics):

  • Write UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Literature in English, one other arts, and one social science subject.
  • To be registered for B.A. English, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Literature in English, one other arts, and one social science subject.

B.Sc. Accounting and B.Sc. Banking & Finance:

  • For B.Sc. Accounting, take UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Economics, and another social science subject. Achieving the benchmark standard in UTME, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two relevant subjects.
  • For B.Sc. Banking & Finance, write UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Economics, Government or Geography. To be registered, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, or any other relevant subject.

B.Sc. Business Administration and B.Sc. Entrepreneurial Studies:

  • Write UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Economics, and any other social science subject. To be registered, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two relevant subjects.

B.Sc. Economics:

  • Take UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Economics, and either Government, History, Literature in English, or CRK/BK.
  • To be registered for B.Sc. Economics, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two other social science subjects.

B.Sc. Political Science:

  • Write UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Government or History, and any two Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • To be eligible for registration, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Government or History, and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies:

  • Take UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Government or History, and any two Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • To be registered for B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Government or History, and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

B.Sc. Hospitality Management and Tourism:

  • Write UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Government or History, and any two Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • To be registered for B.Sc. Hospitality Management and Tourism, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Government or History, and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

B.Sc. Marketing:

  • Take UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Economics, and either Government, History, Literature in English, or CRK/BK.
  • To be registered for B.Sc. Marketing, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two other social science subjects.

B.Sc. Mass Communication (B.A. Communication Studies):

  • Write UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Literature in English, one other Arts, and one Social Science subject.
  • To be registered for B.Sc. Mass Communication, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Literature in English, and any other art, social science, or science subjects.

BPA Public Administration:

  • Take UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Literature in English, one other Arts, and one Social Science subject.
  • To be registered for BPA Public Administration, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Literature in English, one other Arts, and one Social Science subject.

B.Sc. Peace and Conflict Studies:

  • Write UTME and achieve an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Government or History, and any two Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • To be eligible for registration, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Government or History, and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

B.A. Sociology/Social Works:

  • Take UTME and attain an acceptable score in English, Mathematics, Government or History, and any two Social Science or Arts subjects.
  • To be registered for B.A. Sociology/Social Works, you must have a minimum of a credit pass in English Language, Government or History, and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

These are the requirements for admission into the various programs within the Faculty of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences at the university. 

 Faculty of Law

For admission into the Faculty of Law, Department of Law, candidates must meet the following requirements:

UTME Score and Subject Requirements:

  • Applicants must write UTME and achieve an acceptable score that meets the National JAMB Minimum Cutoff. The subjects required for the UTME are English, Mathematics, Economics, and either Government, History, Literature in English, or CRK/BK.

O-Level Result Requirements:

To be eligible for registration in the university’s Law program, a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME must have a minimum of a credit pass in the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Economics
  • Any two other social science subjects

Meeting these requirements will allow candidates to be considered for admission into the five-year degree program in Law within the Faculty of Law at the university.

 Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences 

For admission into the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences with a focus on various programs, candidates must meet the following specific requirements:

 UTME Score and Subject Requirements:

  • Applicants for each of the programs (B.Sc. Anatomy, B.Sc. Physiology, B.Sc. Public Health, B.Sc. Nursing Science, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science, and O.D. Optometry) must write UTME and achieve an acceptable score that meets the National JAMB Minimum Cutoff.

The required subjects for the UTME may vary slightly depending on the program:

  • For B.Sc. Anatomy, the subjects are English, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or Biology.
  • For B.Sc. Physiology, the subjects are English, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or Biology.
  • For B.Sc. Public Health, the subjects are English, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or Biology.
