Our History:

The seeds of Adventist education in Eastern Nigeria were sown by Pastor and Mrs. Jesse Clifford, the first missionaries to bring the Seventh-day Adventist message to this region in 1920. They founded a primary school in Aba, laying the foundation for future educational endeavors.

The Beginning:

The idea of establishing Clifford University took shape in 2008 at a meeting of the Adventist Secondary Technical College (ASTEC) in Owerrinta. Initially planned as a vocational college, it evolved into a full-fledged university. The name ‘Clifford University’ honors the pioneering work of Pastor and Mrs. Jesse Clifford.

The Journey:

Over the years, the project gained momentum, culminating in a crucial decision in 2012 when the Abia State government returned some schools to the Adventist Church. This event paved the way for the establishment of Clifford University’s campuses in Ihie and Owerrinta.

Objective: The JUPEB programme is designed to prepare candidates for direct entry into 200 level in their chosen degree courses. Successful completion of the program leads to the award of the JUPEB certificate.

Admission Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language, in not more than two sittings. These subjects should be related to the candidate’s desired course of study at the university. Applicants with a credit in English but with deficiencies in other subjects can still apply, provided these deficiencies are rectified before the completion of the JUPEB programme.

Duration: The programme spans one academic session, divided into two semesters. Additionally, it includes an intensive compulsory ICT program lasting one month immediately after the final examination.
