Summit University in Offa, established by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), is the result of meticulous planning and the careful utilization of human and material resources.
It stands as a prominent religious organization that has consistently provided education to Nigerian students at various levels, from primary to tertiary, regardless of their religious, ethnic, geographical, or political backgrounds.
The idea of creating a faith-based university with world-class standards in teaching, research, and community service took shape in 2002 when the National Education Board of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria formed the Higher Education Committee.
Their goal was to turn dreams into reality. In 2004, during a meeting of the National Executive Committee, it was decided that Offa, Kwara State, would be the location for the university. By June 2005, the Society submitted a formal application for a private university operating license to the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja.
Verification visits by the NUC followed. The first took place from February 19 to 21, 2009, and the second from September 2 to 4, 2010. In October 2010, a new National Executive Committee, under Alhajj Lateef Olufemi Okunnu SAN, CON as National President, was elected.
He displayed unwavering commitment to Summit University by organizing a workshop on the Proposed University in May 2011, establishing the Finance Advisory Board in September 2011, and ensuring the availability of a 200 million naira bond to the NUC in December 2011. In 2012, a new Planning and Implementation Committee, chaired by Prof K.O. Alausa was formed.
Through the dedication of its members, the Society paid the required N200 million bond to the NUC in December 2011, renewing their pursuit of an operating license. The National President and other key figures met with the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof Julius Okojie, on March 23, 2012, to further advance the cause.
On October 22, 2013, the ADS National Executive Committee presented evidence of available liquid cash to the NUC, fulfilling the final requirement for obtaining an operating license.
The appointment of Prof TGO Gbadamosi as the National Education Secretary on March 12, 2012, marked a significant step toward obtaining the license for Summit University. Prof Gbadamosi had already served in an acting capacity and delivered lectures at various Society events.
The new Planning and Implementation Committee, since 2012, included distinguished individuals from various fields, each contributing to the university’s development.
Between 2012 and 2013, substantial investments were made in renovating and upgrading facilities, providing infrastructure, and acquiring furniture and equipment on the university campus.
Following the completion and editing of university documents, the Planning and Implementation Committee submitted four crucial documents to the NUC in April 2013, including academic briefs and the university’s master plan.
The Board of Trustees of Summit University underwent screening by the State Security Service on May 8, 2013, ensuring their suitability for the university’s governance.
A final verification visit by the NUC took place on July 15, 2013, where a special committee thoroughly assessed the campus facilities.
In April 2019, Summit University achieved another significant milestone when it was granted a permanent operational license, solidifying its status as a fully accredited private university in Nigeria.

General Admission Requirement for University Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates
For University Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates seeking admission to Summit University, Offa, here are the general admission requirements:
Academic Qualifications
- Obtain a minimum of 5 credits in SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or an approved equivalent in at least 5 subjects.
- The credits must include English Language and Mathematics, as well as any other three subjects as specified by each Department/Programme.
Ensure that these 5 credits are acquired in not more than two sittings.
Minimum UTME Cut-off Mark
UTME candidates must attain the minimum cut-off mark specified for the admission year.
The 2022/2023 admission exercise has set a minimum cut-off mark of 140 for eligibility in the SUMMIT UNIVERSITY post-UTME screening.
However, it’s worth noting that the situation may vary for the current year due to potential fluctuations in UTME exam performance among candidates.
